Unfortunately, Rosacea is not curable, but it is very treatable. Doctors will treat the redness and the flushing with lasers. Lasers have proven to be quite effective in treating Rosacea. Such lasers as the pulse-dye laser or the KTP Nd: YAG laser.
When there is acne present that is associated with Rosacea, doctors will frequently prescribe antibiotics that are in the tetracycline category. That is because these antibiotics have anti-inflammatory effects so that inflammation is suppressed. These antibiotics may also have a positive effect on the blood vessels that are the main offenders when it comes to Rosacea.
Once a dermatologist determines the subtype of Rosacea a person has, different types of therapies may be prescribed. It is very important that the subtype is identified because each subtype has different symptoms. These different symptoms will determine the type of therapy that is used. The dermatologist will use their best judgment.
