Skincare Products for Men
In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on skincare for men. While our fathers and grandfathers may have maintained a facial routine that consisted of soap, water, and the occasional use of shaving cream and aftershave, this can mainly be attributed to a lack of products designed specially for a man’s skin type. There are now a variety of products, based specifically on skin type, which can and should be included in a man’s daily skin care routine. A short list of those products is below.
Face Cleanser
While a mild soap may be the most common form of face cleanser, it is not the most recommended, especially as a man moves from his 20’s into his 30’s and beyond. A cleaner will be able to better cleanse the skin on the face, while helping to balance the moisture levels in the skin.
Toner
Toner is a product that helps to tighten the skin, to help reduce wrinkles and sagging of the skin. This should be used when the face is clean and before moisturizing.
Moisturizer
While previously moisturizers were in the women’s only section, they have now branched out into the men’s skin care section as well. Moisturizers help keep the skin balanced and help prevent fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, many moisturizers include SPF, which can help protect the skin from dangerous UV rays.
Shaving Cream
Most men will have a can of shaving cream in their medicine cabinet; however, most men do not pay attention to the type of cream or the benefits it has to offer. You should choose a shaving cream based on your skin type, as some shaving creams can dry out the skin when you need moisture, and vice versa.
Skin care is now an important topic for both men and women, so make sure you understand your skin type and all of the products available specifically for you. Be sure to consult a professional before you start a new skin care regime or if you are considering making changes to your current one.
