Taking care of sensitive skin
Sensitive skin is that which gets easily irritated. In people who this condition is present there is a tendency to get skin reactions when the skin is exposed to specific or sometimes unspecific triggers. The most common triggers include dyes, fragrances, and harsh irritants. Sometimes the trigger may not be a substance but rather an environmental condition, genetic reasons, or even a breach of the skin’s natural moisture mechanism. There are a few situations in which the skin has reported to become sensitive for no apparent reason at all.
The symptoms that indicate skin sensitivity include sensations of burning, tingling, itchiness, soreness, flakiness, tightness, dryness, and redness.
Sensitive skin has been known to result courtesy of exposure to substances that are either irritating or allergenic. It is for this reason that the use of hypoallergenic products is advised for such people. Other relevant causes for this condition have to do with altered weather patterns, pollution, and stress levels. A self examination is of the essence so as to know which substances and conditions to steer clear off.
In taking care of your sensitive skin always stick to hypoallergenic products regardless of whether it’s the sunscreen, the moisturizer, or the makeup. Stick to a minimal face care product range. Resist the urge to over-wash the face – doing so twice daily should be more than sufficient. Sensitive skin should not be subjected to exfoliation. The right choice of sunscreen is one that isn’t oil based but is rather gel based. This is to ensure that the face is only slightly greasy. When it comes to your choice of makeup you will have to seek out water based products that are not prone to causing pore clogging. All the pre-makeup preparations like the blusher and the foundation should similarly be oil-free. Lastly, ensure that you eat properly from a balanced diet and that you stay hydrated.
