Acne Myths versus the Facts
There are plenty of myths surrounding acne, which is why it is time to bust those myths. Unfortunately, it is myths that can really cause a person a lot of trouble. They cause more damage than they do good.
So here are some of the acne myths that you may come across:
- The sun can help to remove acne – This is a huge myth. Yes, the sun can dry out the skin, but it definitely doesn’t remove acne. Sure, going to the tanning bed and sunbathing can clear it up temporarily, but it isn’t going to get rid of it.
- The more you wash your face, the faster it will go away – The truth to debunk this myth is that washing your face more will not make it go away faster. Actually, washing your face more can make the issue worse because it can cause irritation and that irritation can cause the acne to spread.
- Acne needs to run its course – Have you seen all of those individuals with acne scars that run deep? Those are mostly those that let acne run its course because of this myth. You can cure acne, so it is important to stop it as soon as it starts.
- Popping acne will make it go away – The truth here is that popping it will not make it go away. Popping acne makes it spread because you’re touching your face and the stuff inside of the acne pimples and cysts can contaminate other areas of the skin. This also leaves permanent blemishes on your face.
The proper treatment is out there, so it is important to take advantage of it. You need to catch acne as soon as it starts. If you’ve had it for a while, try getting rid of it now so that you can minimize the damage as much as possible.
