What is Herpes? Herpes is a virus that is spread by individuals through skin to skin contact. Herpes are caused by a virus that is known as the herpes simplex virus or HSV. The amount of individuals who are affected by the herpes simplex virus is an astronomical amount. Of this large amount of individuals, many of them may be unaware of the fact that they have HSV. This is because the herpes simplex virus may have mild to no symptoms which allows the virus to go undiagnosed and untreated. If you become diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus you may develop oral herpes which are cold sores or fever blisters located around the mouth area. You could also develop genital herpes which contain similar symptoms that are located in the genital area. Unfortunately, about 50% of the adult population in the United States has oral herpes. The herpes simplex virus is a very common virus.
